Looking to rapidly migrate to the cloud? Scale cost-effectively and strengthen disaster recovery? You’re not alone. Here’s how organizations are unlocking the power of hybrid cloud with VMware Cloud on AWS.
For the first time ever, you can try out vSphere with Tanzu for 60 days without ever leaving the vSphere client! While you might be familiar with the VMware evaluation program that requires a My VMware login, we wanted to make evaluating Kubernetes on vSphere with Tanzu a lot easier. After you upgrade to vSphere 7 Update 1, click on the “Workload Management” section in the menu and you will see a simple form to enroll into the in-product evaluation. After you’re done filling that out you will have access to a fully functional live trial of vSphere with Tanzu!
VMware literally runs on VMware products, apps and solutions, and we are honored to share our achievement and innovative initiatives during our webcasts. VMware IT partners with all parts of the business, including R&D to deploy VMware products in our environments and with Sales to share our product deployment journey with Customers.
We’ve had a major impact on improving collaboration throughout the company and introducing infrastructure programs to complement app modernization. Contact us at [email protected] to connect with our IT subject matter experts and learn about our deployment journeys, IT best practices, and thought leadership.
Enhance Your Career Into the New Year!
Take an assortment of Hands-on Labs that explore various topics of running a hybrid cloud and head into the new year with new knowledge. Challenge your skills and showcase your expertise by taking an Odyssey lab and see where you rank on the leaderboard. At the end of the event, 3 randomly drawn winners will each receive (1) Apple Macbook Pro and (1) Apple AirPods Pro. The more labs you take, the better your chances will be to win!
This contest will be open from 12/1/2020 – 2/3/2021. The 3 winners will be announced on the HOL Blog by 2/5/2021.
When was the last time you got a Kubernetes cluster up and running and said, “Welp, now we’re done”? Probably never. The cluster is only one part of the puzzle. In this demo, you will see eight open source technologies that provide different aspects of operating Kubernetes.
Get a technical demo of Kubernetes automation with Cluster API, use Kubeapps and Harbor to provide easy access to new applications, utilize Antrea and Contour to improve network performance, visualize the cluster with Octant, measure conformance with Sonobuoy, and save the day with Velero.
There’s a lot more to Kubernetes than just the platform, and VMware is committed to open source and their communities so that we can all deliver better solutions.
Dean Lewis (@saintdle) and Simon Conyard (@Virtual_Simon) dive into a session outlining Day 2 operations in a vSphere with Kubernetes environment. This session was presented during the Canada VMUG Virtual UserCon on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
The upstream Kubernetes community recently discovered a security issue—CVE-2020-8554— affecting multitenant clusters that allows anyone who is able to create a ClusterIP service and set the spec.external IPs field to intercept traffic to that IP address. There is no patch for this issue yet, and it can currently only be mitigated by restricting access to the vulnerable features.
Most organizations have 10-15 monitoring tools. With containers and multi cloud, the complexity of the infrastructure and applications you are helping support is increasing. You need something that can “observe everything” so that you don’t spend hours on a Webex/Zoom shuttling across multiple tools. And you want analytics that will help you get to the issue-area quickly. Modernizing applications that have front-ends in the cloud and back-end in the data center don’t make life any easier.

Tanzu Mission Control is now integrated with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service, a component of vSphere 7 with Tanzu. Now, customers can centrally provision and manage the lifecycle of Tanzu Kubernetes clusters on vSphere 7 across multiple vCenter Server instances and/or multiple datacenters via Tanzu Mission Control. See how it works in this demo.
In Tech Field Day 22, VMware experts presented technical deep-dive content on VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery in a series of sessions. VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery offers on-demand disaster recovery, delivered as an easy-to-use SaaS solution, with cloud economics. It combines cost-efficient cloud storage with simple SaaS-based management for IT resiliency at scale, and customers benefit from a ‘pay when you need’ failover capacity model for DR resources. Watch the on-demand sessions to see demos and learn more.
