This is an extraordinary time, and we are all concerned about the health and safety of family and friends, as we navigate a rapidly-evolving situation. Our hearts go out to everyone around the world impacted, either directly or indirectly, by COVID-19. It’s a moment for us to come together as never before.
This pandemic drives home for me just how connected we have become as a global community. I want to reassure you that we’re doing everything we can to support the well-being of our extended VMware family, including our employees, customers and partners. We are monitoring the situation closely as it evolves, and we will continue to keep you informed here.
We have made corporate donations to support nonprofits working on relief and containment efforts for COVID-19 around the world. Additionally, with these unprecedented circumstances generating increased needs for nonprofits in our communities – from direct responders, to those now faced with the secondary impacts of the situation – we are identifying new and different ways for our employees to engage and contribute safely and meaningfully. VMware will be doubling its Matching Gift limit for 2020 to enable employees to support our communities during this time of uncertainty and still-evolving needs. The outpouring of concern and support we have seen from our people is heartwarming and powerful.
At a time when ‘business as usual’ is not an option, we need to focus on helping each other, and assisting our customers as they respond and adapt. We have the capabilities to help customers across the globe enable their employees to work remotely, maintain productivity, increase connectivity, and provide for continuous secure access to applications regardless of the endpoint. As we navigate this global pandemic, the future of work is changing. As the work-from-home model becomes the norm and work itself becomes more distributed, we will continue to build infrastructure and technology solutions optimized for the workplace of the future. This is a “black swan” event that I believe will permanently change the way we work, learn, connect, worship and simply how we live in community with each other.
We want to say thank you and extend our sincerest gratitude to the first responders, medical teams and all the people and organizations working to make the world safer as we battle to contain COVID-19. To our customers, we say thank you for your continued partnership. Know that we are here to help you – as technologists, as partners, and as your extended business family. My thoughts, prayers and concerns are with everyone impacted.
Be safe and take care.
Best,
Pat
